It is a great adaptation
In the timeless city of Macondo, seven generations of the Buendía family navigate love, oblivion, and the inevitability of their past and destiny. This is Netflix’s most expensive project in Latin America to date, with the participation of Colombian groups and indigenous communities constructing the series’ props and scenery.
At the same time, it respects the Colombian people and society in an ethnic and cultural aspect
We start with wonderful photography, good script rendering, and creative direction with an approach that respects the original work. They also adapt the events of the book with dedication and use resources such as conceptual shots to complement the narrative.
Traditions, music, food, and racial diversity are part of the Macondo universe, as well as the history that makes up the years of Colombia’s violent past
This gives way to what is its chronology, which is perfectly threaded, which leads to a slightly different content of the product, but not to a negative development of the story. In fact, it’s a very dedicated and quite faithful piece, evoking the nostalgia of One Hundred Years of Solitude and the artistic impact that Latin American literature and the work of García Márquez had on later generations.
No need to waste time scrolling endlessly – here’s the entire lineup of new movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix this month
